General migration info#
Project migration to the X-controller utilizes previous controller models and their firmware. Project data is processed chronologically through the “device history,” as different firmware versions may adjust the data. This step-by-step process ensures compatibility.
First, data is converted to the C-controller, then read into FX-Editor for validation, and finally sent to the X-controller from FX-Editor.
Important
The recommended way to migrate project data to X-controller, is to read all data to FxEditor using “Get data from PLC” functionality. Then send all data separately from FX-Editor to X-controller.
That way, all data is compatible for X-controller.
During the process some data is lost eg: port settings, userdata, history and points existing values.
If all existing data is critical to save, it is possible to migrate directly from C-controller using backup functionality. This will most likely cause issues. Do it on your own risk.
Following flowchart provides an overview of the migration process, based on the starting point of the migration.
